I really loved this Bobbi Lynn, for someone who feels currently like I’m in a season of the inbetweens it gives me hope that there are things happening in and around me in the meanwhile. I also feel sad to read your thought on older women being among the least noticeable. I honestly crave input from older women around me but am not sure how to ask for it especially as I don’t know them well yet (for example in a church setting). Being part of this demographic yourself, how would you recommend someone like myself (young mom in her late twenties) go about inviting the voice and experiences of older women to speak into my life?
Madison, there is so much value in intermingling with people in different seasons of life. Churches don't always do the best job at this, but I find that I intentionally keep my church community interesting by 'going out on a limb' and asking questions, being invitational for one on one coffee or thrifting dates, etc. These small moments often lead to real connection and a way to walk alongside each other. If there is not a group in your church, maybe you could form one - a group of us gather twice a month for a 'book club' and breakfast. Ages range from mid 20s to 70s and it's so good to hear the perspectives around the table. I pray you find those women who want to care for and hear you in your season of life, we are out here, I promise :)
Thanks for taking time to respond and for your thoughts and ideas on this topic. Lots for me to consider, it’s sparked some thoughts for me and I’m going to continue to think of this all going forward. 😌
